About Adriana

Some people find their voice. Adriana Boyd-Lewis found hers, lived a little more life, and came back to it.

Adriana Boyd-Lewis is an actor, author, speaker, poet, and storyteller whose creative work has moved across stages, pages, classrooms, and community spaces.

Long before stepping onto the theatre stage, Adriana was known to audiences as Simply Drana, performing spoken word and poetry throughout Houston and appearing at showcases, conferences, community events, and live arts experiences. Her work grew beyond performance into speaking and storytelling, including opportunities to share poetry with students and participate in conversations centered on resilience, womanhood, and the experiences that shape us.

She is the author of HerStory: Tales of a Youth in America, a collection of poetry based on true events. Writing remains at the center of her creative life—from poetry and personal storytelling to playwriting and cultural commentary.

In recent years, Adriana expanded that storytelling to the theatrical stage. Her acting work includes Sadie in Exit Strategy, A Dickens Christmas Carol, and Rose in Fences. For Adriana, acting wasn’t a departure from the work she’d done before—it was another way to do what she had always done: step inside a story and make people feel something.

But her creative journey hasn’t been linear.

There were seasons when careers, responsibilities, survival, and ordinary adulthood demanded more space than art could occupy. Rather than erase those years, Adriana brings them with her. They’ve given her more life to write about, more humanity to bring to a character, and a deeper understanding of why stories matter.

Now, she’s creating again—not as the person she used to be, but as the woman all of those experiences created.

Today, Adriana’s work spans acting, writing, speaking, spoken-word performance, hosting, and creative storytelling. Whether she’s performing someone else’s words, writing her own, standing behind a microphone, or developing something that hasn’t existed before, the mission remains remarkably simple:
